Jury Duty, Superior Court of D.C.

Well, I was summoned to Jury Duty this month, as was my friend Robert. We both moved to DC around the same time, and ironically, both summonsed at the same time too! Anyway, you can fill out the form they send you in the mail online:

Go to DC Courts website and complete your juror qualification form or request a deferral of your jury service online!!
Here, you will find a wealth of information regarding jury duty:

What to Do While Waiting in the Lounge

Quote: "Please be prepared to spend time waiting in the Jurors' Lounge prior to serving as a juror. The Court apologizes for this inconvenience, but please know the Jurors' Office staff is aware of your concerns. Many administrative processes have been implemented to minimize your waiting time and ensure you are given the opportunity to serve as a juror. The waiting is caused by the fact that trials are scheduled to begin at different times throughout the day and parties may settle the case at any time prior to commencing the trial. Therefore, predicting when, or if, you will actually serve is very difficult."

They also suggest:

"Bring things to do while you are waiting. Books, magazines, newspapers, laptops, cards, and other quiet activities are permitted. The Jurors' Lounge has televisions, vending machines, and telephones. As a courtesy, a business center equipped with carrels, modem access for 7 laptop computers, a facsimile, and copier is also available."

Doctors in DC

Here are a few suggestions for doctors in the area. I know for sure McMackin accepts United Healthcare. The others listed here don't (not sure about the doctors at Price Medical).

Washington, DC DMV

DC DMV
I went to the Georgetown location to get my license and register my car. It was SO FAST! No long lines and long waits. The georgetown DMV is in the lower level of the Georgetown Mall.
A piece of advice: Take the bus (or walk) as they don't validate the parking there, but the time you save over the main DMV office is amazing.
Unfortunately you DO have to go to the Half St. location (directions) to get your car inspected, which could take a bit of time. They have about 8 bays for car service, so it does move rather quickly. It took me about 30 mins. or less from the time I got there, to the time I left.
